Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has several projects underway along SR 316 from Gwinnett County to Oconee County with a goal of improving safety and reducing congestion.

Plans involve replacing at-grade intersections with interchanges and flyover bridges – roads crossing SR 316 will be above or below the traffic on SR 316. An interchange includes on and off ramps that allow access to SR 316 whereas a flyover bridge provides no access from the crossroad to SR 316.
